Mission
The St. Dunstan
School of Religious Education is an important part
of the St. Dunstan Parish Community. We are
dedicated in providing our students with a desire
to share in the adventure of faith, learning,
liturgy and life. Our programs provide faith
formation for children to grow in love, knowledge,
appreciation and desire to become active members of
the Catholic Church. We are committed to helping
parents encourage and to provide their children
with a solid spiritual foundation of their Roman
Catholic faith.
Overview
of Program
The St. Dunstan School of Religious Education
welcomes all children and youth, who are baptized
Catholic and those wishing to be baptized in the
Catholic faith, to enroll and participate in our
Religious Education Program. Enrollment priority is
given to those families who are registered in our
Parish.
Important
News and Updates
- Registration information and materials
are now available. You can call the CCD Office
to request a package or download all materials
and information in the Registration
Section that follows.
- Registration Packages are due into the
CCD Office by August 20, 2010.
- Please remember to thoroughly complete
all registration materials needed to process
your registration (Registration Forms Part I
& II, Medical Release and Emergency
Information Form, and Internet and Information
Waiver Form. Missing paperwork or incomplete
information will delay your registration.
- We will have Open Enrollment on Tuesday,
September 14th and
21st.
We are looking for volunteers to join our
team of catechists and aides in the rewarding
ministry of working with the children in our
parish. If you have been thinking of becoming more
involved in a church ministry-please consider
volunteering in our Religious Education Program.
Training sessions are available as well as
materials that explain the textbooks as well as
lesson plans.
The St. Dunstan School of Religious Education
is an important part of the St. Dunstan Parish

Schedule
of Classes
Religious Education classes for
students in Grades Kindergarten through 6th are
held on Tuesday's from 3:45-5:00 p.m. Students meet
in the St. Dunstan School classrooms.
Religious
Education classes for students in Confirmation I
& II are held bimonthly on Tuesday evenings
from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Students meet in the St.
Dunstan School classrooms.

Registration
The
St. Dunstan School of Religious Education is now
accepting registrations for the 2010-2011 school
calendar year. Our program is open to all students
who have been baptized in the Catholic faith or are
in the process of Catholic Faith Formation. You can
download the registration package (below) or call
the office at (650) 697-7451 to have a package
mailed to your home. Before downloading and
completing the registration materials, please
carefully read the following instructions. In
order to process your child's registration, we must
have the following:

(please complete both sides). Please
note: you do not have to live in Millbrae
to attend CCD at St. Dunstan, therefore,
please provide us with your correct home
address and telephone number on the form.
The information that is provided on
this form should be kept current at all
times. Please contact the office to update
information.

Completed
Registration Form-Part
II
(please
complete both sides). As in any
educational setting, we rely on volunteers
to help us with our students. Your
registration will not be processed without
this form being completed and you indicate
areas in which you are able to assist with
our program.

Release and Emergency Information
Form. This form will be used
in the event of a medical emergency with
your child. The information that is
provided on this form should be kept
current at all times. Please contact the
office to update information.

Baptismal
Certificate (for new students
only!) - We need to have a copy of your
child's Baptismal Certificate on file.
Please enclose a photocopy; we cannot be
responsible for originals sent to our
office. These copies are kept on permanent
file in the CCD Office. Registrations will
not be processed without a copy of your
child's Baptismal Certificate.

FOR
NEW STUDENTS (GRADES 3 THROUGH 8
ONLY):
If
your children have received their First Eucharist
and/or Reconciliation-please complete this
information on the Registration Form where
indicated (including the church and date received)
and provide us with copies of the
certificates.
SACRAMENTAL
PROGRAMS
All Sacrament Programs are a two-year
program. Students must complete one (1)
immediate previous year of formal religious
instruction either through a Religious Education
Program or Catholic School. Students must be
baptized Catholic and have a consistent class
attendance record to be eligible to receive
Catholic sacraments. Copies of certificates of
completion, report cards or letters from the
previous program coordinator will be required in
order for a new student to be placed directly into
a sacrament class.
Our
Confirmation Program is a two-year program.
Confirmation I (for first year confirmation
students) is designed to explore our Catholic faith
and begins the preparation for Confirmation.
Confirmation II (for second year
confirmation students) is designed to finalize the
preparation for Confirmation through commitment,
service and attendance at a retreat.
For
students enrolled in our Confirmation I and
Confirmation II Programs-a separate class schedule
will be sent to you in late September. Classes will
start in October and are held every other week on
Tuesday evenings. Classes are from 7:00-8:30
p.m.
SPECIAL
SACRAMENT PROGRAM (GRADES 3 THROUGH 8
ONLY):
Students
in Grades 3-8th who have not received the
Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and/or
Reconciliation, will be admitted into our Special
Sacrament Program and will receive their Sacraments
through a two-year program. This program will
prepare them to receive these Sacraments. Please
call the Director of Religious Education for
information.
All
registration materials and tuition payments must be
returned no later than August 20,
2010, by either mail or dropping it off in
our office mail slot which is located on the first
door of our office. Please enclose all
information needed including certificates and
payment. Your canceled tuition check is
your receipt. Applications will be returned that
are not complete and do not have all information
enclosed. Our mailing address is: St. Dunstan

We
will attempt to accommodate all applications;
however, our class size is limited. Please
register early. Priority will be given to
students who have attended our program last year
(if registered before August 20th) and to those who
are members of our Parish.

information and CCD class schedules are available
online. We ask that you review the St. Dunstan
School of Religious Education Program Policy as
well as the Student Guidelines that are available
online. We will review these policies with students
on our first day of classes.
The

Baptismal
Information
We need to have
a copy of your child's Baptismal Certificate on
file. Please enclose a photocopy, we cannot be
responsible for originals sent to our office. These
copies are kept on permanent file in the CCD Office
for use as the student progresses through the
Sacrament programs. If your child was baptized at
St. Dunstan Church, please call the Rectory
(650-697-4730) to obtain a
copy.
Change
of Address / Phone
Please notify the Religious Education Office of any
change of address or telephone number (work, home
or cell) immediately so that we can update
emergency contact information. This is necessary in
the event of an emergency and we need to contact
you or your designated
contact.

Guidelines
Sacrament
Preparation
First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
Preparation
Preparation for First Reconciliation and First
Eucharist is a two-year program. Children must
attend and successfully complete 1st grade (Level
1) Religious Education classes in order to be
eligible for 2nd Grade (Level 2). First
Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparation
involve classroom instruction, parent meetings,
retreat, prayer celebrations and attendance at
mass. The involvement of the parents in their
child's preparation for these sacraments is vital.
The Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First
Eucharist are celebrated during the spring of 2nd
Grade (Level 2).
Confirmation
Our Confirmation Program is a two-year program for
students in Junior High (Grades 7th & 8th).
Confirmation I (for first year confirmation
students) is designed to explore our catholic faith
and beginning preparation for Confirmation.
Confirmation II (for second year confirmation
students) is designed to finalize the preparation
for Confirmation through commitment, service and
attendance at a retreat. Students must successfully
complete Confirmation I in order to be eligible for
Confirmation II. The Sacrament of Confirmation is
celebrated during the spring of Confirmation
II.
Special
Sacrament Program for Older Students (Grades 3 and
up)
Students in Grades 3 and up who still need to
receive the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy
Communion and/or Reconciliation, will be admitted
into our Special Sacrament Program which is a two
year program. Students will attend CCD classes and
special classes to prepare them to receive these
Sacraments over the course of the two year program.

Note: All
students who are enrolling from another Religious
Education Program or parochial school will be
required to provide a letter from the
Director/Coordinator of the Program or report card
indicating that student successfully completed the
course requirements for the grade level before
being eligible to enroll at the St. Dunstan School
of Religion.
Volunteers
Needed
As in any educational setting, our program relies
heavily on volunteers. We are looking for a few
dedicated individuals who would like to participate
in the faith formation of children. We are in need
of catechists (teachers) and classroom aides. If
you are interested in volunteering your time in our
program, please contact the Director at
650-697-7451.
In addition, we
are also looking for high school students who are
committed to helping the children in our program.
Service hours will be given. Areas of need are:
classroom aides, office work, special projects and
assignments. If you are interested in volunteering
your time, please contact the Director at
