Mission
The St. Dunstan
School of Religious Education is an important part
of the St. Dunstan Parish Community. We are
dedicated in providing our students with a desire
to share in the adventure of faith, learning,
liturgy and life. Our programs provide faith
formation for children to grow in love, knowledge,
appreciation and desire to become active members of
the Catholic Church. We are committed to helping
parents encourage and to provide their children
with a solid spiritual foundation of their Roman
Catholic faith.
Overview
of Program
The St. Dunstan School of Religious Education
welcomes all children and youth, who are baptized
Catholic and those wishing to be baptized in the
Catholic faith, to enroll and participate in our
Religious Education Program. Enrollment priority is
given to those families who are registered in our
Parish.

This Lenten season, we will be
supporting the Holy Childhood Association in their
efforts to help the diocese of Knudiwa in Papua New

young children. The children who attend the school
come from very poor families in remote regions of
the diocese. These families have no electricity in
their homes and very limited access to clean water
or nutritious foods.
Students were provided with coin holders to
use during this Mission Drive. We ask that all
coin holders (or your contribution) be returned to
CCD by March 11th.

Sacrament
Preparation
First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
Preparation
Preparation for First Reconciliation and First
Eucharist is a two-year program. Children must
attend and successfully complete 1st grade (Level
1) Religious Education classes in order to be
eligible for 2nd Grade (Level 2). First
Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparation
involve classroom instruction, parent meetings,
retreat, prayer celebrations and attendance at
mass. The involvement of the parents in their
child's preparation for these sacraments is vital.
The Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First
Eucharist are celebrated during the spring of 2nd
Grade (Level 2).
Confirmation
Our Confirmation Program is a two-year program for
students in Junior High (Grades 7th & 8th).
Confirmation I (for first year confirmation
students) is designed to explore our catholic faith
and beginning preparation for Confirmation.
Confirmation II (for second year confirmation
students) is designed to finalize the preparation
for Confirmation through commitment, service and
attendance at a retreat. Students must successfully
complete Confirmation I in order to be eligible for
Confirmation II. The Sacrament of Confirmation is
celebrated during the spring of Confirmation
II.
Special
Sacrament Program for Older Students (Grades 3 and
up)
Students in Grades 3 and up who still need to
receive the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy
Communion and/or Reconciliation, will be admitted
into our Special Sacrament Program and will be
required to attend special classes in addition to
their normal CCD class. These special classes will
prepare them to receive these Sacraments. Separate
schedules for these special classes will be sent to
students once the plans are finalized and usually
begin in January.
Note: All
students who are enrolling from another Religious
Education Program or parochial school will be
required to provide a letter from the
Director/Coordinator of the Program or report card
indicating that student successfully completed the
course requirements for the grade level before
being eligible to enroll at the St. Dunstan School
of Religion.
Volunteers
Needed
As in any educational setting, our program relies
heavily on volunteers. We are looking for a few
dedicated individuals who would like to participate
in the faith formation of children. We are in need
of catechists (teachers) and classroom aides. If
you are interested in volunteering your time in our
program, please contact the Director at
650-697-7451.
In addition, we
are also looking for high school students who are
committed to helping the children in our program.
Service hours will be given. Areas of need are:
classroom aides, office work, special projects and
assignments. If you are interested in volunteering
your time, please contact the Director at
