If
God is for us, who can be against
us?

Romans 8:31b

As we journey towards the Easter
Sacraments, we are on a
pilgrimage of renewal. We journey
with Jesus Christ, who gives
meaning to our lives and has
claimed us for himself in
baptism.
Lent
affords us an opportunity,
through prayer fasting and
almsgiving for putting our house
in order. It teaches us that the
road to heaven is through this
valley of tears, through the
daily chores of work and putting
up with the everyday frustrations
and disappointments of living.
Lent also teaches us that we are
not alone. Christ has laid his
hands on us and said, Get
up, do not be
afraid.
Our
Gospel of this weekend relates an
extraordinary occurrence: the
Transfiguration of Jesus. His
three intimate friends, Peter,
James and John, were allowed to
glimpse the glory of Jesus. The
apostles in a sense get a sneak
preview of the reality that Jesus
is the Christ. Jesus begins to
reveal the Paschal Mystery. He
will be lead through suffering to
joy, through command: Listen to
Jesus. The invitation is to trust
the way of life of Jesus. Listen
to Jesus, follow him and risk
all.
We
began our life in Christ at
baptism. After water was poured
on our head as an infant or
adult, a white cloth was offered
as a reminder that we had become
like Jesus in his
transfiguration.
As
the transfiguration of Jesus was
but a prelude to his
resurrection, so baptism directs
us to a future event. That event
is our sharing in Christs
resurrection. Our baptism calls
us to let the glory of God shine
through us so that others can
catch a glimpse of that
glory.

St.

Lenten Project
A
Friendly Place ~ Day Center for
Homeless Women
Collection Dates: All Masses on
March 21st and
22nd
St. Dunstan T.E.R.E.S.A.
Committee requests all
Parishioners and school families
to, during Lent, consider
donating to an organization
called A Friendly
Place. A Friendly Place is
a day center located in Oakland
for homeless women run by two
Sisters of St. Joseph of
Carondelet. The shelter receives
no government funding and
survives on private donations
only. Because of these difficult
times, A Friendly Place
desperately needs donations to
keep it operating. Just recently,
vendors who provided coffee to it
for years have discontinued doing
so. At
all Masses on March 21st and
22nd, the St. Dunstan
T.E.R.E.S.A. Committee will be
collecting the following much
needed items:
Paperback Books, Snacks,
Magazines, Washcloths, Napkins,
Paper Towels, Coffee, Tea, Toilet
Paper Travel Sized Items:
shampoo, soap, gel, toothpaste.
Donations may also be dropped off
at St. Dunstan School, 1150
Magnolia Ave during school hours:
Mon-Fri from 8:00 AM 4:00
PM from February 25th (Ash
Wednesday) to Friday, April
6th.

40
DAYS FOR LIFE
Christians
throughout San Mateo are invited to take
part in the national 40 Days for Life
effort this Lent from February 25 through
April 5. In addition to 40 days of prayer
and fasting to end abortion in America,
please consider volunteering to pray
outside of Planned Parenthood, 2211 Palm
Avenue, San Mateo, for one or more hours
during our vigil there from 7 am to 7 pm
throughout the 40 days, and ask a friend
or two to join you! St. Dunstan Parish is
asking for volunteers to participate in
this effort on Wednesday, March 11th. For
more information call Connie Fry at
697-9357.
Today is Catholic Charities CYO
Loaves & Fishes Sunday.
Catholic Charities CYO receives no funding
from the Archdiocese Annual Appeal or
directly from the Archdiocese, so
lets support quality social services
in our community by donating as generously
as possible to help Catholic Charities CYO
reach its spring goal of $300,000. Every
dollar contributed directly supports
programs that provide relief for homeless
families, ailing seniors, immigrants, the
working poor, troubled teens and many
other clients in need.
TV FOCUS
ON TEENS, JOHN PAUL II
Theology
of the Body for Teens, a new series
staring in March, features candid

and life as a young person, and airs
Thursdays at 8:30 pm and 11:30 pm. (30
minutes) The Young John Paul II:
Witness to Evil spotlights the
future Popes World War II
experiences. It airs March 28 at 5 pm and
11 pm and April 2 at 10 am. (1 hr) All
times are Pacific. EWTN is carried on
Comcast Ch 229, Astound Ch 80, San Bruno

LENTEN
REGULATIONS
Everyone
14 years of age and older is bound to
abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, the
Fridays of Lent and Good
Friday.
Everyone
18 years of age and older but under the
age of 60 is also bound to fast Ash
Wednesday and Good Friday.
On
these two days , the law of fast allows
only one full meal a day, but does not
prohibit taking some food during the day,
so long as this does not constitute
another full meal. Drinking liquids during
the day is permitted.
When
health or ability to work would be
seriously affected, the law does not
oblige. In doubt concerning fast or
abstinence, a priest assigned to pastoral
ministry or confessor should be consulted.
In the spirit of penance, the faithful
should not lightly excuse themselves from
this obligation. Parishioners are
encouraged to receive the Sacrament of
Reconciliation during Lent, and to attend
Morning Prayer at 7:15 am, and one of the
three daily Masses at 6:30 am, 8:00 am and
5:10 pm.
Stations
of the Cross are held Fridays at 2:15 pm
& 7 pm.
