Saint Dunstan Catholic Church
15th Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 13th, 2008 Bulletin

You have crowned the year with your bounty, and your paths overflow with a rich harvest.

— Psalm 65:12

There was a woman who dreamed one night that she walked into a brand new shop and, much to her surprise, found God working behind the counter. So she asked God, “What do you sell here?”

“Everything your heart desires,” God replied. It was incredible: She was talking face to face with God, and God just told her she could have anything she desired. “I want peace of mind and love and happiness and wisdom and freedom from fear,” she said. And almost as an afterthought she added, “not just for me, but for everyone.”

God smiled and said, “I think you’ve misunderstood, my dear. We don’t sell fruits here. We only sell seeds.” The Word of God has been planted in each of us. This Word is not a thing or an object but the gift of the presence of God. He has told us he is willing to come and abide with us. At baptism the delicate and demanding word of God is first planted in our hearts.

We have received the Word and the seeds are meant to sprout and grow into the fruits of the Spirit.

God has given us all a lifetime supply of gifts for every part and every time of life. Our task is to help one another to see those gifts and develop them and put them into action. Most of us never recognize most of the gifts that God has planted within us. We don’t see them so we can’t help them grow. Name His gifts, inside and around you – all of them. Help them grow. We are, after all, not buying anything from God in his brand new shop, we are His children receiving gifts from his generosity.

From the Office of Religious Education and Youth Ministry

We are looking for volunteers to join our team of catechists in the rewarding ministry of working with the children in our parish. If you have been thinking of becoming more involved in a church ministry--please consider volunteering in our Religious Education Program. Catechists are needed for the following grade levels--Kindergarten, First and Second. Our classes are held on Tuesday afternoon's from 3:45-5:00 p.m. and will begin in September. Training sessions are available as well as materials that explain the textbooks as well as lesson plans.

The St. Dunstan School of Religious Education is an important part of the St. Dunstan Parish community. We are dedicated in providing our students with a desire to share in the adventure of faith, learning, liturgy and life. Our programs provide faith formation for children to grow in love, knowledge, appreciation and desire to become active members of the Catholic Church.

It is our hope that you will give consideration to the idea of becoming one of our volunteers and share with us your time, talent and your prayers. For more information, please contact the Director of Religious Education--Sheree Leone at (650) 697-7451 or stdunstanccd@att.net.
