Saint Dunstan Catholic Church
Fourth Sunday of Easter
April 29, 2007

“I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may be an instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth.”

— Acts 13:47b

There is such a need for vocations to the priesthood and religious life in the Church that the Holy Father has set aside this Sunday as “World Day of Prayer for Vocations.” We all have a mission in life, because the word of God, which came to birth in us at baptism, is waiting to blossom forth in a more total way in each of us. Christ the Good Shepherd is calling each of us by name as we journey through life by different ways. God does not knock at every door looking for somebody to respond to a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. If he happens to knock at your heart, be generous enough to let him in. How otherwise will the needs of the flock in the next generation be met? On the occasion of his Installation as Archbishop of San Francisco, Archbishop Niederauer printed a prayer card with the prayer for vacations of Pope John Paul11:

“Loving Father, it is Your will that people be saved and experience the consolation of Your love and mercy. Hear our prayer for an increase in religious and priestly vocations. Call men and women from all lands and from every walk of life to bring Your message of hope and salvation to the entire world. Give them the grace to bring others to You through Jesus, Your Son, so that people the world over may share the justice and peace He came to bring into this world. Amen.

If you feel called by God to the priesthood or religious life, please contact Fr. Thomas A. Daly at Office of Vocations (415) 614-5683.

If any of your loved ones have been hospitalized, we ask that you please call the rectory to let the priests of the parish know so that they are able to visit them. The hospitals do not inform us when one of our parishioners has been admitted, so it is up to their family members to let us know. Thanks for your help!
